1. What is Creative Arts Therapy, and what does a Creative Arts Practitioner do?

Creative Arts Therapy is a gentle, trauma-aware approach that uses a range of creative tools, like drawing, painting, movement, storytelling, and guided visualisation, to support emotional expression, self-awareness, and healing. It's not about making "good" art. It's about using the creative process to explore your inner world in a safe and supported way.

A Creative Arts Practitioner facilitates this process with care and intention. They guide you through creative experiences tailored to your needs, helping you connect with your feelings, uncover insights, and develop healthy coping strategies. Sessions might include art-making, writing, mindfulness, or body-based awareness, whatever feels right for you in the moment.

Creative Arts Therapy can be especially helpful when words aren't enough, or when you feel stuck in talk-based approaches. It meets you where you're at, gently, holistically, and without judgement.

2. Do I need to be good at art to do Creative Art Therapy?

Not at all. There's no right or wrong way to express yourself here. You don't need any artistic skills - just a willingness to explore and be curious. The focus is on what the art means to you, not how it looks.

3. How is Creative Arts Therapy different from talk therapy?

Creative Art therapy offers a more flexible, often gentler path to healing. Instead of relying solely on words, you can express yourself through colour, shape, and image - especially helpful when feelings are hard to describe. Sessions may include both creative work and conversation, depending on what feels right for you.

4. What happens in a session?

Each session is different and guided by your needs. You'll be invited to explore creative activities at your own pace - there's no pressure or expectation. We may talk about your artwork, your experiences, or simply reflect on how you're feeling. It's a safe space, led by you.

5. Is Artistic Healing trauma-informed?

Yes. This practice is grounded in trauma-informed principles. That means your emotional safety, choice, and autonomy are always respected. You'll never be pushed to share more than you're comfortable with, and you'll be supported with compassion, patience, and care.

6. Do you work with neurodivergent clients?

Absolutely. Artistic Healing welcomes neurodivergent clients and offers flexible, personalised sessions to meet individual needs. Whether you're navigating ADHD, autism, or sensory sensitivities, this space is designed to feel supportive, not overwhelming.
